Víctor Santana has earned himself to be one of the most important artists of underground electronic culture inside and outside of Spain. Part of the fault is the meticulous and handcrafted work with his label Chaval Records. Techno with roots, with one foot in the origins of the movement in Detroit and another in the new updates of the genre. Chaval Records has managed to make egg in the suitcases of artists like Robert Hood, The Brothers, Vince Watson, Mike Banks among others …
As in Chaval Records, where Santana opts for physical support as opposed to digital format, its direct, in any of its modalities, shies away from software and «digital control», betting on hardware and classic circuitry. His influences are in the first place the jazz and the soul more black, more classic, going through the Reggae, the House and of course the Techno «made in Detroit» with a certain aroma to the first shines of the German underground movement. Víctor’s musical and artistic interest translates into three different direct formats:
Víctor Santana live !:
The original format, the roots. Víctor Santana, offers a live 100% analog, wild and careful, with clear influences from the Techno movement, and House from Detroit and Chicago. In 2013 Víctor has renewed his live performance, recently named All In One, to return to the origins, bring melody and musicality to a live show that has already toured the best clubs in European clubbing.
Víctor Santana & Band:
It is the project Victor always dreamed of. Facing the loneliness of individual Techno, Victor has created a band, with classical instruments (up to five) to shape a new way of understanding Techno. Far from being limited to interacting with the music that Víctor shoots, the instruments are an active part in the composition, development and execution of Víctor’s music, taking them to a very first level.
Víctor Santana Trio:
Picking up the spontaneity of Víctor’s individual live, but with the musicality and emotion of training with Banda, Víctor Santana Trío is the most balanced meeting point between the two passions of Víctor. The machines and instruments. The trio consists of a keyboard and a saxophone, together with the spectacular set up of Santana’s analog techno.
